Memorial Day is a date to remember all men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Since the holiday is about honoring the fallen, different events take place to do so. While some organize solemn ceremonies, others prefer music tributes, or unique graphic designs.

On May 5h, 1866, residents of Waterloo, NY decorated the graves of soldiers who died during the Civil War. Hence, the holiday’s original name “Decoration Day.”
